We have numerous scholarships available in our office at 207 Monroe Hall for students to pick up during various times of the the school year.

Here are a few scholarships that we consistently offer:
Women’s Studies Scholars Award [available February – April]
Eligibility: This award is open to all Women’s and Gender Studies scholars who have a commitment to academic excellence and who plan to graduate with a minor in Women’s Studies, a Gender Studies Certificate, an emphasis in Women’s Studies as an Interdisciplinary Studies degree, or a Women’s and Gender Studies major at Eastern Washington University. Women and men are eligible. Preference will be given to students who have completed at least eight credits in Women’s and Gender Studies by the application deadline.
Childcare Scholarship [available January – March for the following years full academic year scholarships; available October-November for a partial current year scholarship]
Amount: Full Academic year : $900.00 ($300 per quarter); Partial year : $600.00 ($300.00 per quarter)
Eligibility: Scholarships are intended to assist student parents with childcare expenses. To be eligible, you must be enrolled full-time (12 credits) at EWU for each quarter you are eligible for the scholarship, and your child[ren] must be registered in a licensed childcare service. Only one scholarship per family will be awarded, but both parents may apply. In order to maintain the scholarship recipients are required to: 1) Attend the H.O.M.E. Scholarship fundraiser spring tea, 2) Get your picture taken for childcare scholarship publicity purposes, 3) Send a thank you letter and returned contract to H.O.M.E. for the scholarship.
Women’s Opportunity Award [available September-November]
Amount: The local winner will receive a $500 award. Regional and national awards are between $1000 and $10,000.
Eligibility: Soroptimist International of Spokane is again sponsoring its annual Women’s Opportunity Award. Applicants should have primary financial responsibility for their families.
Rural American Scholarship Fund [available January-March]
Amount: Successful applicants receive at least $1500 awards; up to $9000 depending on program costs. First-time awards are generous and based on the applicant’s academic program costs.
Eligibility: Qualifications are need-based. Applicants must have 90 credits by the beginning of fall quarter of year applying; have turned 23 by September 1, of year applying; taken a break between high school and college; be a legal resident of the state in which they attend college (or on a reciprocal agreement); reside or hail from a rural community in the United States; be enrolled full time; and have a 2.8 or higher GPA. This scholarship for women and men is open to all majors. Masters students should first contact Rural America Scholarship Fund with questions.
American Association of University Women (AAUW) [available January]
Amount: Two $2000 scholarships will be awarded
Eligibility: Women 1) who are at least 25 years old by the beginning of the school year and in need of financial assitance; 2) who have made a commitment to a feasible career goal and have demonstrated the ability to succeed; 3) who are enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at EWU, GU, ICN, SCC, SFCC, or Whitworth.
