H.O.M.E. Program Family Events

Parent Support Groups

To help create a more enjoyable college experience, the Helping Ourselves Means Education program (H.O.M.E.) offers two types of parent support groups where many students can find others with common goals and challenges:

  • One is in a workshop format that may include: skills development in time management, resume writing and interviewing, resources in finding low cost housing or legal information that concerns parents regarding their children
  • The second is Eagles and Eaglets, which is a recreational parent/child activity group aimed at creating an enjoyable college experience for single parents and student families by developing relationships, friendships and a support network

Eagles and Eaglets

Eagles and Eaglets is H.O.M.E.'s family event group. It aims to create a more fulfilling college experience for student parents here at Eastern Washington University. Campus activities aimed at traditional students often leave student parents feeling out of place. Eagles and Eaglets activities are not only fun for kids, but also allow parents to expand their community by networking with other student parents who are experiencing the same challenges. Eagles and Eaglets events are fun for the whole family!

Past events include: pizza and craft night, family potluck, picnic in the park, visit to Mobius Kids children's museum, and a day at Riverfront Park.
