All programs are FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC unless otherwise noted in the descriptions.

Persons with special needs may make arrangements for accommodations by calling Christi, 509.359.2847, at the Women's Studies Center, seven days in advance.

Our Women's Studies Center Newsletter

Every quarter we have multiple newsletters that come out listing the upcoming Women's and Gender Studies sponsored or cosponsored events (like those listed below in the calendar). On the back side of the biweekly, we include interesting parts of articles that pertain to women and gender. You can pick up these newsletters in our Women's Studies Center Programs box (mounted on walls) in the following locations:

  • Monroe Hall (our office - 207 Monroe or at the bottom of the main staircase on the first floor)
  • Isle Hall (first floor after Patterson-side entrance)
  • Patterson Hall (second floor; left side after main entrance)
  • Science (first floor; left side after main entrance)
  • Phase (first floor; right side after main entrance)
  • Communications (first floor; left side after main entrance)
  • Art (first floor; left side after main entrance)
  • Music (first floor; go through either doors from the street entrance or the doors to the right of the recital doors on the Art building side; the box is in the "middle area")
  • Martin and Williamson (first floor; one after entrance on 7th street; the other is after the entrance facing Huston Hall)
  • Sutton (first floor; behind main entrance desk in paper display box)
  • Huston (first floor; left side entrance facing Showalter after first set of doors)
  • Tawanka (first floor; on each side of elevator after walking in main entrance)
  • Showalter (first floor; above the heater in the lobby)
  • Kingston (second floor; go up the ramp at the entrance facing Senior Hall; it's straight ahead on wall)
  • Senior Hall (first floor; left side immediately after the 2nd set of doors of the main entrance)
  • Computing and Engineering building (first floor by the restrooms)

Directions

  1. From I-90 (coming east or west), take exit 270 at Four Lakes and drive south for 5 miles.
  2. Drive straight towards downtown Cheney on First Street. After driving through two stoplights, turn right onto "C" Street.
  3. Begin looking for parking on the streets starting at Fifth Street.
  4. If you are unable to find parking on any of the nearby streets, park in the Episcopal Church parking lot located on "C" Street between 6th and 7th Streets. Allow ample time to walk up to the Women's Studies Center to get a parking pass for the Episcopal Church parking lot.
  5. Walk southwest on 7th Street towards campus.
  6. Monroe Hall will be the second building on your right (past Hargreaves Hall which is currently undergoing construction).
  7. Upon entering Monroe Hall follow the signs to the Women's Studies Center (Room 207).
