What is the Women's Studies Center?

The Women's Studies Center and the Women's and Gender Studies Program are a tightly woven unit for providing students, faculty and staff with information and resources on women and women's and gender issues.

Some of the informational, educational and technological resources include:

  • FREE educational programs presenting a wide variety of topics concerning women and gender to students, faculty, staff, and the Spokane/Cheney community (see Events)
  • A large collection of books on women and gender issues available to check out
  • Information on a variety of scholarships pertaining to women
  • Current job announcements
  • A comfortable lounge for student meetings or studying
  • Resources for a variety of women's issues (click here for some of our resources
  • Our H.O.M.E. Program (Helping Ourselves Means Education) provides support and resources for student parents

The Women's Studies Center invests women with confidence, a sense of women's value and a sense of purpose, contributing to the academic breadth of the University and representing Eastern Washington University's commitment to recognition of women.

History of the Women's Studies Center

The Women's Studies Center was established at Eastern Washington University in 1977. Now in its 30th year of service and dedication to Eastern Washington University, the Women's Studies Center continues to carry on the tradition set forth by the pioneering women who first realized the importance and potential of having such a beneficial resource at EWU.
